The second principle of the circular economy is to circulate products and materials at their highest value. The challenges this week will help you keep products in use for longer.
Find something in your home you were going to throw out, and give it a new life! Repair it. If it can’t be repaired to function as before, get creative - find a new use for it.
[ ] 🌏 Clothes with holes or a rip? Repair them yourself or bring them to a seamstress
[ ] 🌏 Bring an item for repair to a repair cafe. 🥨 In Munich, there are more than 50 repair cafes; you can also learn to repair yourself by attending a workshop at Hei-München , MakerSpace or Werkbox3. You can also use an open workshop of Maker Space to access tools, equipment, and machines. There are also Textilwerkstätte (Textile workshops) where you can learn how to repair clothes or upcycle them. Search for locations to repair things here
[ ] 🇦🇹If you are in Austria, you can apply for Reparatur Bonus that can be used to cover part of the costs of repairs of electrical devices; up to €200 per device is refunded. It covers large household items like fridges, washing machines, tumble dryers, coffee machines, computers, mobile phones, e-bikes, electronic toys, and garden tools.
[ ] 🇦🇹 If you are in Vienna, check Repatur Netzwerk´s website to find out about Repair Cafes, DYI guides, and upcoming events to learn how to repair electrical devices, clothes, bikes, tools, etc. You can visit the weekly repair cafe “Schraube 14” in Lützowgasse 12-14 organized by R.U.S.Z. [ ] 🇦🇹 Do you need assistance with purchasing, installing, or operating a technical device? You can try Helferline, a network that connects tech-savvy, self-employed individuals with users seeking help via a hotline and app, similar to a cab dispatch center, for in-home technical support and repair. They also have a service shop where you can use your “Reparatur Bonus” and extend the life of a product/device.
[ ] 🌏 Are you good at repairing something specific? Bikes? Clothes? Volunteer to repair something for others - your family, friends, etc.
[ ] 🌏 Learn to repair, IFIXIT offers a step-by-step repair guide and Let’sFIXit from Repanet have some videos: **Fahrrad-Check** (Check your bike)and **Handy und Tablet länger nutzen (**use your mobile and tablet longer); you can activate subtitles in your mother tongue.

Buying used saves money and enables items to remain in circulation longer. Here are some ideas to buy something used but at great quality. You can also sell (or donate) used items. Remember the principle of week #2 - use less. If you don’t really need it, don’t buy it.
